Expedite efforts to increase capital expenditure: PM Prachanda instructs ministers


Kathmandu : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ directed the concerned ministries and agencies to work harder and make extra effort for increasing capital expenditure so as to address economic challenges.

“If capital expenditure does not take place in time, it not only stalls development back but also creates multidimensional effects on economy. Therefore, federal, provincial and local level governments need to expedite capital expenditure and focus on quality works,” said PM Prachanda.

He was addressing the 50th meeting of the national committee to solution development problem held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today.

PM Prachanda assured of necessary initiatives on his part for coordination among the three tier governments and expected that the finance ministry will ensure resources for projects that are doing good.

He instructed ministries and agencies to make necessary preparations for new and qualitative projects and budget allocation as the government was preparing policy, programme and budget for the upcoming fiscal year of 2080/081 BS.

Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, vice-chairperson of National Planning Commission, made a presentation that included half yearly review of the current fiscal year.

Ministers of federal government, chief ministers of the provinces, auditor general, chairperson of national natural resource and finance department, chief secretary of the government, governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, chairperson of federation of district coordination committee, chairperson of Nepal municipality association and rural municipality association also put forth their views in the meeting.
