Coach Annese believes in young players

Kathmandu : All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) officially unveiled the National team’s newly appointed head Coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese on Tuesday. The ANFA has appointed Italian Annese for one year.

During his unveiling programme, Italian Annese said he had been following Nepali football for over two years. He also laid out his plans and ambitions for the national team to the media. “I wanted to come here and become the head coach of the national team. This is the highest point of my career and I want to explore the potential Nepali football has to offer,” he said.

Speaking about hoards of players leaving the country for abroad opportunities, he said he would field new players with a new strategy and hoped to do good with the national team.

“I believe in young energetic players. Nepal has quality young players and the only thing they lack is experience. They need experience,” he said.

When asked if he would call players who went abroad to the national team, he said he would instead call those players whom he had watched playing.

“If a player leaves for an amateur team, I cannot see them playing. I won’t know the actual situation. I would prefer calling the players I have watched playing,” Annese said.

Coach Annese said his goal during his one-year tenure with the national team is to win.

“Only winning can help us achieve something. We need to change to achieve those wins but it is going to take some time,” he said.
